Americans Say They Are Great Drivers Facts Say Otherwise

8/2/2011 12:00:00 AM

According to a recent survey of American drivers many think of themselves as a great driver, which doesn't really seem to jibe with you know... actual facts.  64% of those surveyed said that they were an "excellent" or "very good" driver. Okay, so some people are a little arrogant or naive in rating themselves... but what about rating their peers? Only 29% said their peers were very good or excellent. Surprise, surprise America!

The survey also found that most stated that teenagers and older folks were not great drivers, as are people with young kids. The whole "Don't make me come back there!" thing must get distracting. Now I know why all those SUVs and Minivans have DVD players in the back. SpongeBob saves the day!

Perhaps the most interesting result was that surveyed drivers often said that drivers in other surrounding states were much poorer when it came to driving. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that same sentiment so it's no surprise how common that feeling is.

Since we all seem to think we're all great drivers it makes a lot of sense to make sure that your CA Auto Insurance isn't filled with gaps just in case one of those undiscovered racing car drivers out there make a left turn into you without signaling while yelling into their iPhone.
